We’re Trying Something New. Come Along For The Ride

2020 was a wild ride. It was a year I don’t think any of us expected. But beyond all the uncertainty, the chaos, the isolation, we were forced to look inward and decide what was most important.

As a company, Heels Down Media, we did the same. We examined our work and the community we’ve built, and came up with a plan for change in 2021.

Heels Down Mag began in 2014 as an innovative platform. Three years later we launched a podcast and in 2018, we created the Heels Down Brief, a daily newsletter which combines equestrian content with ‘real world’ news.

We’ve always made an effort to be real and inclusive. In 2019, we made it our mission: 

Heels Down Mag believes riders of all disciplines can learn from each other, and that your worth isn’t defined by anything or anyone but yourself. We’re building a community that’s kinder, smarter and more inclusive. Join us, stay curious.

Our work was defined by four key pillars from that point forward: Diversity, equality, well-being and sustainability.

We broke conventions from day one and now, we are ready for more change.

Going forward, you’ll see less new content from us on our usual social media channels and on our website. We’re not going anywhere – we just want to have more intimate and authentic conversations with you. The best way to do that, we’ve found, is in the Heels Down Brief.

We’ll be publishing original essays, reported stories and opinion pieces in the Heels Down Brief, which is delivered to your inbox every weekday morning.

We made a conscious effort to step away from the noisiest platforms out there – where even the most earnest messages can be lost or misconstrued – and instead focus on where we can engage with our most loyal readers and listeners directly.

We hope you’ll join us on this ride into the new year and beyond, as Heels Down continues to host meaningful discussion on the topics that mean the most to you. At the heart of everything we do is still the horses. If 2020 taught us anything, it was to never lose sight of your heart and your passion.
