Stop Pawing in the Cross-Ties! Presented by Wahl
August 12, 2016
They may not say it directly, but this behavior drives your barn manager, trainer, and others at the barn CRAZY. It’s loud and annoying, and other horses seem to pick up the habit; not to mention, it can really damage the barn aisle floor! And those expensive shoes your horse wears up front? It’s wearing them down as well.
Don’t fear! There’s something that can be done about it, and it’s not feeding your horse carrots and petting him until he stops. Train him – don’t let him train you.
Liv Gude of Pro Equine Grooms offers some great insight into why horses paw in the cross-ties and how to address it
