Product Review: SynChill Pure By SynNutra Equine

There are a lot of supplements on the shelf at the feed store, many that claim to do this or that, without a lot of research behind the marketing. But that’s not the case with SynNutra Equine.

SynNutra is an equine supplement and nutrition company committed to the research and development of products that actually work when they treat performance horse health.

The most popular product from SynNutra Equine has got to be SynChill, an all-natural calming horse supplement, and for good reason. SynChill contains 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan), the precursor to serotonin, the hormone widely recognized as a natural antidepressant, which effectively supports calm and focus for your horse without the use or need for sedatives or tranquilizers. SynChill comes in gel form and is administered via a syringe for easy feeding. Or there’s SynChill Daily, a pelleted form for everyday feeding.

But there’s a variety of SynChill versions to choose from these days, from the tried-and-true original to SynChill AF – which stands for “advanced formula” – and now, SynChill Pure.

SynChill Pure is designed mitigate the natural fear response in horses while maintaining mental clarity and control. It is made with plant-based amino acids, but without L-theanine, which is an ingredient that can be flagged by USEF in competition. So SynChill Pure offers the same focus and calm response as other SynChill products, without the worry of an ingredient that could be considered illegal for competition.

SynNutra Equine products never contain drugs and there are no withdrawal times from ingredients.

I put SynChill Pure to the test recently when I took my horse to his first “sleepover” competition in more than a year. We competed at our first rated USEF/USDF dressage show, and I wanted to ensure my horse had a good experience as he returned to competition after a long layup while recovering from an injury.

I found that SynChill Pure promoted a sense of confidence in my horse without dulling his competitive edge. It helped create a more predictable mindset in him, which ensured safety for me, the rider, and helped him keep his composure while under pressure of competition.

SynChill Pure helped my horse stay focused on the job in the dressage ring, but also gave him confidence to explore new showgrounds and the excitement that comes from a busy show experience. I have no doubt that SynChill Pure helped my horse stay calm and overall helped us have a very “unexciting” horse show experience – which is exactly what I wanted.
