Product Review: ShimCare Hunter Pad By Ecogold

One of the oldest saddle pads in my current collection is my Ecogold Secure Hunter Pad. I say that with a lot of respect and love, because it is hands down my most dependable. For many years, this pad has taken several horses into the hunter ring, most recently at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, and did its job. Thanks to Ecogold’s non-slip and breathable technology, it’s a pad I can put on the back of my horse and not have to think about again, knowing it will stay in place and the fabric will wick moisture away as I ride. I love it.

But leave it to Ecogold to find a new way to up the ante with their traditional hunter pads. The saddle pad maker recently released a new line of shimmable pads – brilliant – knows as the ShimCare Hunter Pad. It has all the same great features of the Secure line, but with the adjustability for proper fit with easy to move and remove custom shims. 

It’s the perfect option for a rider who plans to compete on a number of different horses on any given week, or for a horse that appreciates a little extra – customized – protection under the saddle. The shims are easy to remove or add thanks to a convenient pouch running along the center of the flaps on both sides. The shims are just an added bonus to the features of the traditional hunter pad, which offers impact protection with high resilience foam, frictionless wither relief and the ultimate quick-dry performance with plenty of airflow. 

I really can’t say enough good things about the ShimCare Hunter Pad. It works for my horses, and keeps them comfortable all day long at the horse show. Ecogold’s hunter pad works hard so my horses can perform their best in the ring. That’s worth the investment.
