Product Review: Ecogold’s Matte Flip Half Pad
It’s no surprise that we’re big fans of Ecogold in this corner of the horse world. Personally, I’m the owner of three well-loved and hard working Ecogold pads. The newest to my collection is honestly the most drool-worthy, though.
When Ecogold announced it was launching a new, ethically manufactured, vegan saddle pad, my interest piqued. It’s more important to me now than ever before to support companies which are passionate about the same values I have. Sustainability is high on that list. Ecogold’s longstanding commitment to ethical standards has always been one of the many reasons why I want to support this company. And their newest pad – the Ecogold Matte Flip Half Pad – just takes that commitment to the next level.
The Matte pad comes with all the same qualities I already love in my Flip Half Pad and more.
This half pad is made with Premium High Resilience Foam, which adds a layer of protection to my horse’s back that is just unparralleled with any other product on the market. It’s shimmable and comes with removable inserts. It has a strategic air vent along the spine to promote air circulation while riding. And its non-slip surface material keeps it in place, safe and secure.
What makes the Matte pad stand out is its sleek finishes. The Matt Flip Half Pad comes in a variety of gorgeous shades: Havana, Mocha, Navy or Black. On the “flip” side, you can choose white or black. These colors are true matte, in that they are without a notable shine. The earthy tones offer a really polished, upscale finish to my overall turnout, in my opinion.
I opted for the Havana pad, because I like the contrast it offered with my more mocha-colored jump saddle, girth and bridle and my horse’s shiny, copper chestnut coat. I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve ridden in this pad, and I haven’t even been able to show it off where it matters most yet – the show ring!
