Things got emotional this morning at NAJYRC after Shelby Brost’s dressage test. The Canadian eventer, who is competing in the CIC** with her mare Crimson, was surprised by her brother, who is recovering from an ACL injury, sister, currently battling cancer, and niece who flew in from Alberta to support her in Colorado. Shelby rushed off her horse, ran to give her family massive hugs and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Representing Team Ontario/Alberta, Shelby and Crimson’s score of 50.20 was the top Canadian result, putting them 5th place individually and 1st in the team placings. Shelby and her groom Holly Wenzell shared their impressions on today’s dressage performance and wonderful surprise. “[Crimson] couldn’t have been better. She was foot perfect in there, I’m so proud of her.”
