The 2021 Heels Down Spark Awards are officially open to creative individuals making their mark in the equestrian industry.
The Spark Awards is an international competition for inspiring individuals to recognize the creative talent brewing in the horse world. Hosted by Heels Down Media, the Spark Awards are open to equestrians, entrepreneurs, writers, graphic designers and more – basically anyone with a cool idea that touches the equestrian industry in some way.
The winners will be selected by a panel of expert judges (75%) and a public vote in the Heels Down Spark, our daily equestrian newsletter (25%). Apply by May 30. To get all the contest details, click here.
The photography category is open to all equine and equine-related (equipment, tack, products, etc.) photography. Only digital submissions accepted. Image specifics 1200 px max across the long side, 140 DPI.

Nico Morgan started his photography career shooting sport for local newspapers at University. He grew up surrounded by horses so in time it was equestrian photography which became the main part of his work. He runs courses in equine photography across all disciplines, and has been published in equestrian magazines and books worldwide. He is currently Land Rover UK’s official equestrian photographer.
Erica Hills helps Florida equestrians decorate their home and stable with custom tailored, luxury artwork. She started Erica Hills Photography to spend time with horses and their humans. She loves having the opportunity to learn about their journey and photographing them accordingly. She has been enjoying the equestrian lifestyle her entire life and believes the horse and human connection is one that everyone should have the opportunity to experience. She is passionate about building a safe and welcoming community for all within the equestrian industry through fostering supportive relationships in her personal and professional life.
Erin Gilmore is a photojournalist and journalist, who has covered some of the biggest events in equestrian sports across the globe. She’s also a hunter/jumper rider based in Northern Virginia and a contributor to Heels Down Mag.
