Heels Down Magazine/Horse Junkies United is looking for an equestrian journalist/assistant editor to join the dynamic start up.
This is an entry level position for someone with 0-3 years of experience, looking for a stimulating creative career in equestrian media – will start out as a part-time and could become full time depending on growth.
Assist in daily management and growth of websites, the magazine and social media accounts.
Write articles, blogs and features, conduct rider interviews.
Proofread and edit articles, come up with killer headlines and captions.
Manage weekly newsletters and social media accounts.
Manage giveaways (seek prizes, manage entries).
Generate ideas and implement strategies to help grow readership, advertising and partner base.
Recent graduate in journalism, English, communications, public relations or similar.
Knowledge of equestrian competitive scene (hunter/jumper, dressage or eventing).
Strong writing and editing skills.
Results-oriented, self-motivated (good understanding of web traffic, social media savvy).
Able to write quickly under tight deadlines.
Highly creative and passionate about a future in equestrian media.

This is a freelance position for someone looking to expand their portfolio or gain experience in equestrian media.
Write impactful articles for the magazine and online platforms.
Sense of humour, highly creative.
Excellent written skills.
Knowledge of the sport.
Able to deliver under tight deadlines.
