In the Magazine: Researching Caracho 14’s Bloodlines

Excerpt from the October 2017 issue of Heels Down Magazine.

Editor’s Note: Bloodlines is a new series where Dutch journalist Adriana Van Tilburg explores the bloodlines and breeding behind some of the world’s top and emerging performance horses.

Last year, Lucy Davis fell hard in love with Carocho, a bay gelding, (Cento – Von Sissi x Acodetto, Stamm 3615, bred by: ZG Baumgart) when she saw him in the Youngster Class at the Hamburger Derby in 2016, in Germany. At the time, Caracho was ridden by Pato Muente, but Lucy inquired through her trainer Markus Beerbaum if Caracho was for sale. A year later, Lucy is now the happy owner of an amazing 8-year-old horse.

We take a look at his bloodlines and how his career has developed.

The Holsteiner Horse

Caracho was born in the same part of Germany where Zeremonie, the top horse of Laura Kraut, was born. The Holsteiner horse breed – Caracho’s breed – has been known for decades as a top sporthorse breed and very good jumping horses.
